Sciatica and leg pain

Sciatica is the name given to the often severe pain that comes from irritation or pressure on the sciatic nerve which runs down the back of the leg. It can affect either or both legs and can be caused by a number of different things. Rather than one condition, sciatica is actually just the generic term for leg pain, and there can be many causes. These include:

  • A disc problem
  • Swelling in the tissues around the spine
  • Tight muscles in the buttocks

As well as pain, there can be several other symptoms of, such as:

  • Numbness
  • Tingling
  • Pins and needles
  • Muscle weakness

Chiropractic care looks to reduce stress in the lower back by improving movement around the inflamed area. By decreasing stress in the area the healing process can speed up and the muscles and joints can begin to work correctly again. As chiropractors we are trained to detect and differentiate between the varying causes and symptoms and know the best way to treat the individual problems. Although often the leg pain is very advanced,

Chiropractic care is designed to address the underlying cause of the problem and not just mask the symptoms, so contact Amethyst today to find out how we can help you.
